Jeanine Basinger Legacy Series

The First Annual Jeanine Basinger Legacy Series is being held throughout the month of September and early October 2021. The Wesleyan Film Series, which is the longest running student-directed film series on any college campus, was started in 1969 by Jeanine Basinger and Larry Mark ’71. The Legacy Series honors Jeanine’s contributions to the history of the Film department, the Wesleyan Film Series and various alumni work. It is offered free of charge to the Wesleyan campus and community. If you are in the area during September/early October, please join us for any of the screenings.

All films start at 8:00 p.m. and will be screened in the Goldsmith Family Cinema.

9/18: PARTY GIRL (1995): with introduction by Daisy von Scherler Mayer ’88, P’95, writer/director

9/23:  A film by Jonas Carpignano (TBD): with introduction by Jonas Carpignano ’06, writer/director
9/24:  BEASTS OF THE SOUTHERN WILD (2012): Conversation with Benh Zeitlin ‘04, director/co-writer; Dan Janvey ‘06, producer. Moderated by David Laub ’03.
9/25: SUMMER OF SOUL (2021): Special outdoor screening, open only to members of the Wesleyan Community and Invited Guests
9/26: 1:00 p.m. – Silent Film, SHERLOCK JUNIOR (1924) with accompaniment by film historian Ben Model

9/30: NATIONAL TREASURE (2004): with introduction by Jon Turteltaub ’85, director
